After a series of amazing shows in the month of June to commemorate Youth month, the SA State theatre in association with Premium Comedy are upping the anti with another amazing line up of comedians for the Tshwane Comedy Nights, the likes of Donovan Goliath who has in a short space of time cultivated a following and career that lands him on many peoples lips when speaking of stand up comedy in South Africa.
He is a Caucasian looking coloured guy from Mthatha who speaks Xhosa (true story). Growing up in the Transkei as coloured boy who looks white and speaks fluent Xhosa its no wonder Donovan left his lucrative advertising job for comedy, he just could not resist taking these life experiences and turning them into material for his stand-up acts.
His career began in September 2010, when he did his first ever 4minute, 35second set at the Comedy Underground in Melville, Johannesburg. People laughed and rolled on the floor, it was this that inspired him to keep writing and performing harder, better, faster, stronger. And it’s been a great ride since. His act is based around insightful storytelling and simple truths using various characters and impersonations. As a relatively new comic on the circuit, he has rocked stages and festivals all over the country and is one quarter of comedy mavens GOLIATH&GOLIATH and as a collaborative effort they run a comedy club, produce events & manage comedians.
The other Goliath on the line up is Nic Goliath.
Nicholas Goliath is a loving father and husband – and this straight-forward life informs his comedy – based on true stories and strange yet funny observations from his daily life.
This comic is already taking the world by storm and is the youngest member of the Goliath team. Like the other members of the Goliath team, Nicholas is also a mutli-talented individual; he is also an amazing sales-person, MC, announcer and entertainer. Nicholas has performed at Parkers Comedy, The State Theatre Johannesburg, The Market Theatre, Carnival City, Emperors Palace Captains Comedy and various club shows with a wide range of corporate clients that include: Stanlib, Macro, City of Erkuhuleni, Castrol and Vodacom to name a few.
We also bring you a young dynamic comedian from Cape Town Siya Seya who runs The Kasi comedy nights in Gugulethu, Khayelitsha & Langa. He has featured in some of the country’s biggest comedy festivals, 99% Zulu comedy, 100% Xhosa comedy and ran his own comedy nights in Port Elizabeth for two years before moving to Cape town. He has his own comedy DVD out titled “ Township comedy” which was released in January 2016 and is fast becoming a favourite with Cape town comedy lovers.
